Stanford Football Recruiting: Weekend Update

This is the Stanford football recruiting weekend update, I’m you host Sean Levy, and these are today’s top stories:

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

RB Trevor Speights: Speights took to Twitter to announce he was accepted into Stanford. Securing Speights should be a top priority for Stanford because of all the running backs that have decommitted.

FB Bailey McElwain: Coach Lance Taylor visited the only fullback in this 2016 class. McElwain said he "loved" his in-home visit.

OT Henry Hattis: Hattis was accepted into Stanford two weeks ago, but didn't open up until a week ago. Hattis was accepted the weekend of the Big Visit, saying "It was a huge relief". In the same interview, Hattis reaffirmed his commitment: "I'm locked in...I'm 100 percent Stanford".

TE Kaden Smith: Early in the week Smith was visited by Coach Travita Pritchard and Coach David Shaw. During the middle of the week Kaden Smith announced his surgery went well and "you'll see me on the field in no time". Smith had suffered an ACL tear during his high school basketball season.

TE Scooter Harrington: Speaking of tight ends, Scooter Harrington flipped his commitment from Boston college to Stanford over the weekend.

DT Mike Williams: Earlier in the week Mike Williams was visited by Coach Travita Pritchard visited the William's household and "got [his] grandma to commit to Stanford". Williams was also cancelled his trip to Texas and rescheduled it for next weekend....but then later that night Williams said his trip was "back on".

OLB Jeffrey McCulloch: David Shaw visited McCulloch late in the week. Though the picture they took is a bit more rigid than the one Coach Charlie Strong took with McCulloch later in the week. Over the weekend McCulloch went to College Station to officially visit Texas A&M.

OG Dylan Powell: Stanford extended an offer to Missouri product, Powell. Powell will be making his visit the weekend of the 29th while also seeing Virginia Tech the Thursday and Friday of that week.

WR Donald Stewart: Earlier in the week Coach Peter Hanson visited Stewart in New Jersey for an in-home visit. Stewart is only a target, but he visited Jim Harbaugh and Michigan this past weekend. He was visiting with Rashan Gary and another teammate from Paramus Catholic High School. While there, Stewart and the rest of the crew were snowed in.

OLB Curtis Robinson: On Thursday of last week, Coach Shaw and company, visited the Robinson household to reaffirm Curtis's commitment.

RB Brandon Stephens: Announced on Friday he will be re-opening his recruitment. This decommitment is Stanford's 5th in all. Stephens will be looking at Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas to continue his academic and athletic goals.

CB Obi Eboh: On Saturday Eboh publicized his decommitment from Texas. On Twitter Eboh wrote, Texas wasn't the right "fit" for him both "academically and athletically". He was recently accepted into Stanford, so Stanford has done everything they can to convince Eboh to commit.

OG Nate Herbig: After being in Palo Alto last weekend, and finding out some important information for his future, Herbig made his way to Berkley. Herbig has been considering Cal, Stanford, and Washington after his decommitment to Stanford. According to Scout, Herbig will go visit Washington the weekend before National Signing Day.

DT Bo Peek: Late Sunday night, Peek made public he was admitted to Stanford. This is a huge win for Stanford because this class needs defensive linemen. It must have been a long wait for Peek because he was the first 2016 commit.
