Stanford's 2016 recruiting class has been large and impressive, ranked #12 overall by Rivals. With 19 total commits and a 2015 squad losing some key contributors, true freshman will likely make an impact on the field next season. The class isn't complete yet, however as Stanford has some potential additions which could further solidify the 2016 class and change the outcome of next season.
Demetris Robertson, Athlete: Robertson, the #8 overall prospect from the class is seemingly down to four schools: Stanford, Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame. Guys as sought after as Robertson don't spend a year redshirting, so if Stanford were to land the RB/CB combo he would undoubtedly see playing time in 2016. Robertson would likely have a McCaffrey/Love type freshman campaign on the farm, an explosive change of pace back. His elite nature would likely force the Cardinal to feature him more than the previous two backs, and would give Stanford their fastest backfield in recent history.
Jovan Swann, Defensive Tackle: Swann doesn't have the elite label Robertson does, but Stanford's thin defensive line could make him an immediate impact player. Stanford has a recent success story of a freshman succeeding on a thin defensive line with Harrison Philips, who was a similarly rated prospect. 247sports predicts Stanford will land the big bodied defensive tackle, so keep an eye out for a potential commitment soon.
Jeffrey McCulloch, Linebacker: Linebackers haven't had the true freshman presence other positions have on The Farm, but McCulloch would still be a huge get for the Cardinal. With Blake Martinez's pending graduation and the possibility of Noor Davis moving on as well, Stanford will need to fill a hole in the center of its defense. McCulloch could be the long term answer there, and it's arguably Stanford's most important defensive position. The linebacker from Texas is reportedly down to five schools with Notre Dame, Texas, Florida, and Texas A&M all competing for his services.
Dylan Crawford, Wide Receiver: Down to six schools, Crawford seems like a bit more of a longshot for the Cardinal to land. With Devon Cajuste off to the NFL draft and Michael Rector considering the move as well, wide receiver is a hole on offense for Stanford. Crawford could theoretically see time as a true freshman next season, although between Trent Irwin and Francis Owusu, Stanford has a lot of talent outside. Anyway, Crawford would still be a huge get for Stanford who is competing against Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Miami, and UCLA for the wide receiver's services.
