In case you hadn't heard, Stanford Women's Basketball head coach Tara VanDerveer was honored by the Associated Press as Coach of the Year along with Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma and Miami's Katie Meier.  It marks the first time that the AP has awarded Coach of the Year honors to more than one person in any sport.

Auriemma and VanDerveer led their Huskies and Cardinal to their fourth consecutive Final Fours.  Auriemma went undefeated in the Big East for the third straight year, but had the NCAA record setting streak of 90 wins stopped by VanDerveer's Stanford Cardinal in late December.  Meier took over a Miami program that finished last in the ACC last year to conference champions and a program best No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament this year.  It's Auriemma's seventh head coaching award from the AP and the first by both Meier and VanDerveer (side note: this is the first time Tara's been honored by the AP???).

So what does ESPN have to say about all this?  I think the headline to its news story pretty much sums up their (hometown) feelings.

Eh, what can you do.  Congrats to Coach VanDerveer AND Auriemma and Meier!
