Yahoo! Sports and Rivals Predicts Postseason Bowls
Rivals and Yahoo! Sports came out this morning with their predictions for their postseason bowls. While the Pac-12 (miraculously) managed to fill all seven bowl slots, Stanford and Pac-12 fans should temper their enthusiasm. The SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 managed to get at-large bids in the BCS along with Boise State. This means they predict the second place finisher (Stanford) to end up in the Alamo Bowl, playing a reloading Texas team.
I don't know what's more ridiculous -- the Pac-12 only getting one BCS bid, Stanford in the Alamo bowl, Texas getting the first non-BCS bid from the Big 12, or Virginia Tech, Auburn, and USC all landing ahead of Stanford in the first Sagarin ratings of the season.

Sagarin
No reason to criticize his preseason rankings. At this point computer rankings are meaningless because no games have been played. Last year Sagarin had Stanford ranked higher than all other BCS Computer formulas, which I expect will continue since Sagarin’s formula gives a lot of credit to pac10 teams for playing 9 conference games.

They're all haters
A few weeks ago, I happened to turn on an football preview on ESPNU and almost threw my remote at the TV after the announcers gave Stanford no respect and even had the audacity to say that Andrew Luck wouldn’t be a Heisman finalist because he won’t have enough of a supporting cast to get him there. I only hope that the team has seen all of these rankings and predictions…they will certainly fuel the team’s fire for the season.
