Pep Hamilton

Alabama reportedly contacted him about replacing Jim McElwain as the OC in Tuscaloosa.

I saw that...

… it will be interesting to see what happens there. It would be an excellent sign if Hamilton chose to stick around at Stanford (assuming he is a serious candidate in the first place).

Pep staying put, Lupoi leaves Cal

It looks like Alabama went with Washington OC Doug Nussmeier instead. In other UW coaching news, Steve Sarkisian has hired Tosh Lupoi as its defensive line coach. Lupoi, who is only 29, held the same position in Berkeley and was widely regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country. That’s a huge loss for Cal. Sark could be building something special in Seattle.

Sorry, Lupoi is 30. Still a young’n.

Yeah... interesting...

Good that we get to keep Pep for another year. I think continuity in that spot is important, considering that we’re breaking in a new QB. It is also a good sign that Stanford can keep its coaches when other “bigger” programs come calling…

We’ll see if Sark can make good use of Lupoi. There was a time when everyone was all excited that he hired Holt to be his DC…
