What if college football had a draft?
Using the guidelines established by Jason Kirk for this fun exercise, Stanford would've selected linebacker Lynn Katoa with the 62nd pick of the 2008 draft and let Andrew Luck slip to Maryland at 68th.

Pointless
What does this mean … What are the assumptions? Seems pointless to post something without providing any details about the assumptions. Does this even take into account who would be admitted to Stanford? Is this just saying, if Stanford weren’t Stanford and the system was completely different and we used all my own assumptions, this is what would have happened. Who cares!!

You say pointless, I say fun exercise.
No, it doesn’t take into account whether the athlete would be admitted to Stanford or any other school for that mater. Jason Kirk outlines the assumptions in his article, which I linked to above. The order of the draft is determined by the team’s rank in the Football Outsiders’ final rankings that year. Schools are required to draft according to Rivals’ recruiting rankings.
Stanford was the 62nd-worst team in 2008 and Lynn Katoa was the 62nd-best prospect that year.
