The NFL season kicked off tonight as the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks take on the Green Bay Packers featuring two notable Stanford alumni in Richard Sherman (Seattle) and Doug Baldwin (Seattle).

Along with Sherman and Baldwin, 20 other former Stanford players survived finals cuts to make a 53-man NFL roster. The 22 former Stanford players on NFL rosters is two better than last year's 20 NFL players.

Don't expect this number to decrease anytime soon. The current Cardinal roster is littered with future NFL draft picks including Andrus Peat, Kevin Hogan, Ty Montgomery, Jordan Richards, James Vaughters, and AJ Tarpley.
