On Saturday, before watching Andrew Luck lead Stanford to a dramatic win over USC, I took advantage of the beautiful weather to watch a future Stanford QB in action. Gonzaga College High School's Kevin Hogan, the 12th-ranked pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2011 according to Rivals.com, was 13-of-18 for 168 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-7 win over O'Connell in Arlington, Va. Hogan, who committed to Stanford in June, also rushed for 73 yards.
I only stayed for the first half, but I was impressed with the 6-foot-4 QB's ability to move out of the pocket when Gonzaga's pass protection broke down. He made plays rolling to his right and left and was accurate with his short and long throws. He was also on target with a spinning jump-pass, which produced varying results. I shot the quickly edited video below with my Flip. It's best viewed in HD, and perhaps with some Dramamine. Enjoy!
