Stanford got off to a good start
But their ballhandling is suspect—it’s their Achilles heel.

There be some suspect calls in this game
Seriously, who calls fouls with 1.1 seconds left in the half when the opposing team is down six points? And Maya Moore looked, umm, angry the entire half.

Yeah, I didn't like that call either
Although probably worse than the refs is the main ESPN announcer. He gets so excited every time UConn scores.

But lol, refs piling the fouls on Stanford now
4 on Chiney.

Stanford not executing in halfcourt here late in the game
Giving UConn a window of opportunity, especially with Chiney just fouling out.

Great effort overall by Stanford
Awesome game by Pohlen, good aggressive defense by the whole team, good game plan vs. UConn and especially against Moore. If Stanford meets UConn again in the tournament, Stanford needs to play with this much aggression away from the friendly confines of Maples. And Gino will have a good motivational tool for his team with this loss.
Go Stanford!

ESPN fail
Of course they go to the LOSING coach rather than talking to the winning team. Has nothing to do with the fact they’re based on Connecticut, I’m sure.

Ha, is that what they did? I’m at Maples right now, so I have no idea what kind of a letdown is happening in Bristol tonight and on air.

They talked to Geno for what seemed like forever, and when they finally got to Tara, they kept asking her about UConn and its streak. Tara firmly, but graciously, made it clear that she wanted to talk about Stanford.
Congratulations, folks. Fantastic game. I pray that your team will be over-confident on Sunday — that’s probably our only hope!
How ya gonna keep 'em down on the Farm, after they've seen Berkeley?

I thought Scott Van Pelt redeemed ESPN a little bit during his interview with Rebecca Lobo. He basically said that as much as the story of the game was about UConn’s streak coming to a close, it was also about Stanford announcing itself as a legitimate national title contender. Lobo agreed.
I’d like to think that if Stanford was the team whose 90-game winning streak was snapped, ESPN would’ve tracked down Tara on the court after the game before they interviewed the opposing coach. It sure would be nice to find out. Hey, three games and counting, right?

Personally, I’m hoping Stanford’s streak will be stopped at three! (But I’m not exactly counting on it.)
