Super Regional Schedule Set: Stanford Opens Against UNC on Friday at Noon
The schedule for the NCAA Baseball Tournament Super Regionals was announced last night. Stanford, which swept the Fullerton Regional, will begin play in Chapel Hill against No. 3 North Carolina on Friday at noon PST.
Stanford at North Carolina (Best-of-3)
Friday, June 10: Noon, ESPN2
Saturday, June 11: Noon, ESPN
Sunday, June 12 (if necessary): 1 p.m., ESPN
Cal, which came from behind to beat Baylor in stunning fashion, opens its best-of-three series against Dallas Baptist on Saturday. The series will be held at Santa Clara, as neither school met the NCAA's requirements for hosting.

Cal Baseball
In addition to being annoyed that Cal gets what is clearly the softest road to Omaha, it is ridiculous that they don’t have a stadium capable of hosting a Super Regional. Going to Evans Diamond was always my least favorite road trip of the season (especially as a broadcaster). That place is a dump and not fit for a Pac-10 team. Too bad Cal is totally broke and has no chance of getting anything new anytime soon.
But on the bright side, that Fullerton Regional was pretty sweet and I am psyched for some more nationally televised games.

Dallas Baptist
Freddy Sanchez and Ben Zobrist are offended that you think Cal has the softest road to Omaha. Patriots pride!

After looking at who DBU played this year
They actually could be a legit baseball team, albeit very odd one. They beat TCU three times, Rice twice, took a series against Washington, split against Washington State in a two-game series, won two of four from A&M, and lost to the Longhorns by only two runs in the middle of the season in Austin.
Evans Diamond isn’t hosting the Super Regional, though. They don’t have lights (because apparently the NIMBYs over there are more uptight than the ones in Palo Alto), so no night games i.e. no TV games, which means the NCAA said no way to Cal hosting the Super Regional on campus. Instead, they get to travel down to Santa Clara for their games.

You know, you really should allow grapes to fully ripen before eating them. Otherwise they’ll be quite sour, as you have experienced.
I'm thinking of having a little party down in Newport.

Games on TV
At least these games are on terrestrial stations for me this weekend. Last weekend I got stuck watching games on my laptop with Comcast occasionally disrupting service (they like to informally meter network usage, as my PS3 and I have discovered).
The downside is that there’s a game at noon pacific on a weekday. I can’t remember a Super Regional that Stanford’s played in that hasn’t been either late afternoon or night. Heck, I can’t remember Friday games in the Super Regional as well (I recall Saturday games and Sunday doubleheaders when I was in school).
