1956 Big Game Program: Missed Extra Points Doom Stanford

Stanford missed three extra points and had a touchdown nullified by a penalty in its 20-18 loss to Cal in the 1956 Big Game. Halfback Lou Valli rushed for a single-game school record 209 yards on 23 carries in defeat. Valli's record stood until 1977, when Darrin Nelson rushed for 211 yards against San Jose State.
