and another one bites the dust
Brady Hoke is now on his way to Michigan, so much for the up and comer. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-college-football-notes-20110112,0,3636804.story Todd Graham, gone. Ron Rivera, who would have been an interesting sleeper gone. My sanity, gone.
The coaching pool is shrinking fast, not that Hoke was likely to move up the coast anyway over Michigan. I hope this process comes to an end soon.
No football until August (spring football doesn't count), no coach, no information, coaches disappearing. If I didn't have grad students to torment, I would be at a total loss of what to do.

Stanford caught off guard by Harbaugh Departure
According to Jon Wilner, http://blogs.mercurynews.com/collegesports/2011/01/11/stanford-football-thoughts-on-the-coaching-search/, Stanford was caught off guard by Harbaugh’s departure.
This really should not have happened.

Shocking -- if true
Big emphasis on the “if true” part.
You’d think they’d have a firmer grip on reality than the 4 billion internet posters who were dead certain he was bolting (although most of them had him going to Michigan — conventional wisdom being what it is). Perhaps they just could not fathom why anyone in Jimbaugh’s position would opt to leave for a reason other than a much bigger paycheck (that Stanford seemed willing to consider coughing up anyway).
They did seem caught off-guard by Trent Johnson’s departure, but that was more understandable. He was nowhere near as hot a commodity when he bolted.
