Jarrett Mann and the Stanford men's basketball team look to stay above .500 in conference play on their road trip to Los Angeles.

The No. 8 UCLA women's basketball team, which is off to its best start in 35 years, visits No. 4 Stanford at Maples Pavilion tomorrow in a showdown for first place in the Pac-10. | Mercury News

The previously chronicled losses of Amir Carlisle and Anthony Sarao dropped Stanford from 16th to 18th in ESPN's latest recruiting rankings. USC, which landed both four-star recruits who were once believed to be headed to the Farm, climbed from 10th to fourth. | ESPN.com

With National Signing Day two weeks away, Stanford has commitments from seven four-star recruits, according to Rivals.com. As Hank from Go Mighty Card alerted me, one of those recruits, Wayne Lyons, has adopted this site's logo as his Twitter avatar. Lyons committed to Stanford during last week's U.S. Army All-America Bowl. You can follow him @WLyons21. Defensive backs coach Derek Mason recruited Lyons and is expected to be a part of new head coach David Shaw's staff. Cardinal Report tweeted earlier this week that Pep Hamilton was promoted to offensive coordinator and that Brian Polian is also likely to return.

Owen Marecic and Sione Fua are among the 13 Pac-10 players who will participate in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 29 in Mobile, Alabama. | GoStanford.com

Being the light of negativity is killing me. I need good news soon.

Pep Hamilton offensive coordinator, ugh. I had to watch him look like a deer in the headlights with the Chicago Bears. At least, he has experience developing quarterbacks. Rex Look what he did with Rex Grossman and Alex Smith.

Jay Cutler did not benefit from interacting with him. Cutler

I hope that he is a better OC or that he has really learned from his previous stops.
