Decimation

While I think that David Shaw will be a fine coach in the long term.

It is now official the coaching staff has been decimated. Gone

Greg Roman, gone; Vic Fangio, gone; Tim Drevno, gone. The loss of Fangio is probably the biggest as he was responsible for the largest improvement in the team last year. He was named by multiple groups as the defensive coach of the year. Footballscoop

After dealing with the recruiting, he really needs to find an experienced staff. I hope that he decides to choose at least one member with head coaching experience.

I just wish that the Shaw hiring would have happened two years from now or that he would have left and picked up head coaching experiences elsewhere.

Next year, probably an 8-4 record and the Sun Bowl.

Definitely a concern

I was prepared for Roman and Fangio to leave if they weren’t offered the head coaching gig, but Drevno’s departure caught me by surprise. I guess it shouldn’t have, but Shaw certainly has some big decisions to make.

Disappointing, as well

Drevno did an outstanding job. I agree that I expected Roman and Fangio to leave.

Shaw needs to start assembling a staff as soon as he completes this weekend.
He should have half his staff together before signing day.
