The top-ranked and undefeated Stanford women's soccer hopes the fourth time is the charm. The Cardinal is returning to the College Cup for the fourth consecutive year after Lindsay Taylor's overtime goal lifted Stanford to a 2-1 overtime win against Oklahoma State last night at soldout Cagan Stadium.
Stanford, which outshot OSU 21-3, took a 1-0 lead on Kristy Zurmuhlen's goal early in the second half, but the Cowgirls answered in the 69th minute. Taylor's golden goal -- her 20th of the season -- came less than 3 minutes into overtime.
"You saw how fiercely competitive this team is," head coach Paul Ratcliffe said. "For me, the most important things are that competitive drive, that desire, and that character."
The Cardinal will take on Florida State in the semifinals of the College Cup on Friday in Kennesaw, Ga. Duke and Wake Forest will square off in the other semifinal of the ACC-dominated event.
