Stanford vs. Oregon State: Tree Up, Tree Down

Here's a look at three good and three bad things from Stanford's 87-82 win over Oregon State.

Chasson Randle

The freshman was ON FIYAH! Randle drilled his first six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 24 points.

Aaron Bright

20 points, 7 assists, 3 turnovers. It was a good night for Mr. Bright, who was coming off a scoreless performance against USC.

Offensive Explosion

Early in the first half, it appeared Stanford and Oregon State would match the point total from their last meeting, and it wouldn't take four overtimes to do it. The Cardinal, which shot 53% against the Beavers, hadn't scored more than 69 points in its previous seven games. "I've always said that shooting can be contagious," head coach Johnny Dawkins said afterward. Perhaps the Cardinal should lay off the immune system boosters.

No TV

It would've been nice to have seen the replay of Jared Cunningham's dunk that wasn't during the game.

Turnovers

The opponents change, but the Trees Down stay the same. Stanford's 19 turnovers allowed the Beavers to hang around. The Cardinal has had more turnovers than assists in four straight games and in six of its last seven.

FT Shooting

Josh Huestis (8 points, 9 rebounds) made all four of his field goal attempts but finished 0-for-6 from the free throw line. Ouch. He and Anthony Brown (7-for-12) accounted for all 11 of Stanford's misses. To its credit, Stanford made 10 of 13 free throws over the final 1:18.
