Card Clicks: Harbaugh will be hot if Stanford drops a spot
Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh addressed the BCS system, Andrew Luck, and the Cardinal's home attendance during his end-of-season meeting with the media Wednesday. Assuming Stanford doesn't slip into the National Championship Game, Harbaugh said he would prefer that Stanford play in the Rose Bowl. As for the unlikely possibility that the Cardinal drops a spot in this week's BCS rankings and gets shutout of of a BCS bowl...
"We're happy to be there. If something else is at play here that's going to knock us out of that in the next couple of days or week then you might have one hot guy at next week's press conference."
The Stanford athletic department could sell tickets to that event.

Per the CNNSI article, Harbaugh said:
“If the almighty dollar is at play in determining who the best teams are on the field… then count me in for a playoff. I can’t say it more emphatically than that.”
Awesome. I now officially hope he stays around.

Well, there is no reason, on the football field, that Stanford would drop in the BCS standings. The team behind them doesn’t play either. And Wisconsin is already ahead of Stanford in the human polls anyways.
If Stanford does drop next time around because pollsters drop them because the Big Bowls complain that they may have to take Stanford, well, the BCS will lose what little credibility they have left.
I suspect it won’t be an issue…

No one wants another 2007
I suspect the only way Stanford gets dropped is if Oregon loses (no matter if Auburn wins or loses). If the Ducks lose, even if Stanford blanked OSU, the Oregon loss loses some of its value, justification enough, I suspect, for voters to drop Stanford back down to sixth behind Ohio State, Wisconsin, and the Ducks, since having Stanford in front of Oregon at the end of the season might cause a little bit of an uproar.
Even if Stanford remains ahead of the Big 10 schools in the computers, Stanford being ranked below Oregon, the Buckeyes, and the Badgers may be enough for Stanford to drop from fourth to fifth, given that 2/3 of the total BCS score is weighted to the coaches and Harris Poll voters.
In other words, if Oregon loses, pray that Auburn loses big as well. (Speaking of, how unfortunate that both teams have kickoff times only a half hour apart.)
