Stanford vs. UConn: Women's Basketball Game Thread

No. 3 Stanford (3-0) at No. 2 UConn (2-0)

XL Center, Hartford, Conn., 4:30 p.m. PT

TV/Radio: ESPNU, KZSU 90.1 FM

The Huskies are looking to avenge last season's 71-59 loss at Maples Pavilion, which ended their 90-game winning streak. Stanford is looking to prove it's a viable title contender despite losing Kayla Pedersen and Jeanette Pohlen. It's a great early-season test for both teams. Comment on all of the action below. Go Stanford!

Really weird to not see Maya Moore out there

Could say the same about Kayla and Jeanette

Kelly Faris is making things difficult inside for Nneka Ogwumike

Stanford may need to get the 3-ball going like they did against ODU…Still scoreless more than 3 minutes in.

half time summary

Stanford is even at the FT line and rebounding, looks like blocking shots is the difference. Camp looks good! Let’s go Cardinal - strong second half

All things considered

Stanford’s hanging in there. Nneka having foul trouble, Kokenis has picked up a few as well.

The usual disparity in quickness is evident at times, but the gap isn’t quite as large as in most years.

UConn cranking up the defensive pressure, Nneka with 4 PFs. Hard to see Cardinal hanging around much longer.

Missing Nneka in the first half really hurt

Had a chance to build a nice lead with UConn ice cold from the field

Caught a bit of the 2nd half. Too bad. I really hate both of UConn’s basketball coaches.

long live the jd.
