This Week in Stanford Sports - Aug. 22-Aug. 28
Wednesday, August 24
Field Hockey - vs. U. of Alberta, 11AM, Varsity Field Hockey Turf
It's the final exhibition game for the women of the summer before they begin the regular season on Saturday.
Friday, August 26
Women's Soccer - @ #5 Maryland, 4PM PT, College Park, MD (Gametracker)
The first "big" test for the women of the season. An easy 4-0 win against PSU followed by a closer-than-it-should-have-been 5-2 decision against Pacific this past weekend makes this game a toss-up.
Saturday, August 27
Field Hockey - @ Hofstra, 10AM PT, Storrs, CT
The Field Hockey team opens their season in Connecticut with an early afternoon matchup against Hofstra.
Women's Volleyball - vs Delaware, 2PM PT, Houston, TX (Rice Nike Invitational)
The #6 Women's Volleyball team opens its season on the road in Houston, making its first appearance in four years without former stars Alex Klineman and Cassidy Lichtman.
Men's Soccer - @ Santa Clara, 7PM, Santa Clara, CA
While neither team is a collegiate juggernaut as in previous years, both teams make their debuts for 2011 hoping to continue their rebuilding efforts.
Sunday, August 28
Women's Soccer - @ #22 Georgetown, 10AM PT, Washington, D.C. (Gametracker)
The women conclude their east coast tour against their second consecutive ranked opponent by taking on the Hoyas in DC.
Women's Volleyball - vs Rice, 11AM PT, Houston, TX (Rice Nike Invitational) (Gametracker)
Mary Ellen Luck (Andrew's sister) and the Cardinal end their time in the Lone Star State by taking on the Owls of Rice.
Field Hockey - @ UConn, 2PM PT, Storrs, CT (Gametracker)
The Field Hockey team spend their last day in Connecticut taking on the home team in a late-afternoon game.
If you're in the area for these games, come out and support Stanford!

DC fans!
As a DC-based Stanford fan, I’d like to encourage Stanford fans to come out on Sunday morning to Georgetown. Looks like admission is free, and it’s a rare opportunity to see a Stanford sport in the District!

Avoid the earthquakes
