1955 Big Game Program: Stanford Beats Cal for First Time Since '46
Father knows best. Stanford finished 6-3-1 in 1955 under head coach Chuck Taylor, closing the year with four consecutive wins, including a 28-20 upset over USC and a 19-0 triumph in Big Game. Inside pages after the jump. The win was Stanford's first over the Golden Bears since 1946.
Stanford great Bobby Grayson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1955.
The yell leader in the left margin has some hops.
Love the photo of future Stanford coach Paul Wiggin.
This was too good not to include.

I love how some of the programs feature the cover in the artwork and continuity with the characters.
These programs are a lot fun!

Definitely some interesting trends. This might be one of the first Cal ladies that’s a blonde. Mostly I’ve noticed it’s Stanford blondes and Cal brunettes. As a side note, the Indian caricatures do go a little bit into the offensive category in these mid 40s - 50s programs.
I also like the very posed action shots with a player in full sprint, or leaping as in this one, but with a smile and looking straight at the camera.
