Them's Fighting Words
Coming from David Shaw, anyway.
When he was asked during today's Pac-12 coaches teleconference about Andrew Luck's national perception slipping in recent weeks, Shaw jumped to his QB's defense.
"I think it's a joke," Shaw said. "I think it's an absolute joke. There is nobody in college football that is doing what Andrew Luck is doing."
The Stanford head coach was just getting started.
"We don't have two first-round draft picks playing receiver for us," he later said. "We don't. We have a very good, solid team."

Finally
…Shaw gets fired up! And defends all of this silly recent chatter suggesting that Luck isn’t the real deal.

That point about receivers is huge...
Whalen is a gamer, and Montgomery is rising, but yeesh, there isn’t much out on the wings to scare opponents at this point. Given the way Owusu was playing, I’d argue the same thing was true before he got hurt. The player the team misses the most on offense is Doug Baldwin - looking back, I can’t even count the number of times Luck put a ball up there last year that seemed like an iffy throw, only to have Baldwin reach up and grab it. It is no wonder that guy is playing (and playing really well) on Sundays.
If Luck could throw to Woods or Keenan Allen every game, his stats would be utterly ridiculous.

Sounds like Shaw was in a bad (or feisty) mood today
