If nothing else, Trotter and Zimmerman logged some hours in the weight room…If Jarrett Mann could shoot free throws he’d average 12 pts/game..defense has been pretty good…offense not so much…not running many plays yet.

I watched Maryland lose to Pitt earlier tonight. Terps started 0-for-7 and finished 14-for-30 from the line. Gross.

- Yes, it was another empty Maples up in the rafters. People congregated around the mid-court seats a little, but behind the nets were virtual playgrounds for parents to set loose their children
- The empty seats do not bode well, I think, for Stanford Athletics. There used to be a waiting list for season tickets a few years ago, but they were still advertising for season tickets as of last week on the website. All the empty seats up in the rafters, especially behind the nets, used to be season ticket seats.
- 6th Man was much better in attendance and cheering than USD. While they didn’t fill up (and even had Virginia alums/students/fans take up a small section off to the side), they were louder tonight.
- 6th Man shirts are the retro white shirts with the small red stripes that they’ve used in the past. On another note, apparently if you’re a young alum, you can register to be a part of 6th Man as well. Not sure how I feel about that.
- This has got to be the WORST free-throw shooting Stanford team I’ve ever seen. They were 1-for-8 in the first half, while UVA was 5-for-5. Stanford ended the night 6-for-14.
- Drew touched on the free throwing a little in his post-game interview with Coach Dawkins. While I couldn’t hear coach’s response as to why they were shooting so poorly, I did hear Drew say that, having been under Dawkins for two years, he knows that free-throw shooting was definitely not neglected during practices.
- What kept Stanford in the game was its outside shooting. While 5 players did reach double digits, it didn’t seem like it. The two teams were actually neck and neck in 3pt shooting until about the ten minute mark of the second half.
- The game was practically the opposite of the USD game. Stanford was sluggish at the start, but then came gradually roaring back after being down by six points for over five minutes of the first half.
- The shot at half time by Bright seemed so easy that I thought for sure it was going to bounce out, knowing Stanford’s luck.
- I don’t know how much CSN/FSN showed, but there were other alums there other than Landry Fields. I saw Mark Madsen, Rob Little, and Chris Hernandez, to name a few.
