7 second half points
Our defense is a beast. I’m really sad to lose Skov, but I hope they let him loose on the sidelines to fire everyone up like he’s done for the past two seasons.

It’s almost not fair to expect big things from Vaughters as a true freshman… but I kinda do. I think he plays a bigger and bigger role as the season goes along and is eventually able to step into Skov’s shoes, if not completely fill them. The good news is that Stanford’s schedule sets up this year such that he’s got a little while to get fully up to speed before big games against USC, Oregon, and Notre Dame.

Fans had extremely high expectations for him in Georgia
Georgia fans were devastated (devastated!) when they found out he chose Stanford over the Bulldogs. Given what people like Tom Fitzgerald over at the Chronicle and even Jon Wilner have said, they all have found Vaughters to be amazing, and everyone from the staff to other players to the media have used the same word when describing him: “Beast.”
That said, I wouldn’t mind if the ILB position is rotated amongst different players from now until Washington on drive-to-drive. It gives the staff time to see who’s most capable at the position while giving players like Vaughters valuable collegiate playing time. Would it be great if they could switch it out from play-to-play? Sure, but both USC and Oregon prevent that kind of substitution, so these next four weeks are a good opportunity for everyone to at least get experience in addition to being evaluated.
